SSHOW mtg. minutes May 14, 2005
Meeting held at north end of Barn 700 So. Jordan Equistrian Center

Meeting called to order @ 11:15 by Mike Morgan, Vice Pres.
Secty. rpt.:
Nance asked for info. from members present on the over-all opinion of
the Spring Fling judge for the SSHBEA report that must be filled out and
sent in for the sanctioned shows.
Shelia listed no complaints. Janae listed no complaints. Morgans felt
judging was mediocre and questioned TWH placements. Gordan had concerns and
will send to Nance via e-mail. It was pointed out that Dennis Pennington
sent TWH info. along with video to judge weeks ahead of show but was apparently not received by judge and could account for questions raised
on the TWH segment.
Nance sent SSH info. to the front desk of judges hotel for review.
DQP input from members present was ok.
Minutes from March mtg. approved. Motion by Wendy. Second by Gordan.
Treas. Rpt.:
Janae voiced concerns to get out monthly newsletter in a timely manner.
Shelia volunteered to help Janae with newsletter on a monthly basis. Voiced
by several members that more info. needed including rules and regs.from the
SSHBEA Rule Book could be incorporated to keep members informed.
T-shirts arrived and were given out by Janae. Those not present at the
show will be sent t-shirts by mail.
Shelia mentioned a possibility of her friend available with a 6 thread
embroid. machine for future promo. items for SSHOW. Janae given name and
address of Carla Vahemert (557-9461) by Shelia.
Nominations for the high point horses:
9 horses nominated = $65.00
Balance in SSHOW acct.= $1,038.60
Shelia reviewed survey sent out by Ron 2 months ago and gave the
following input from it: commradary from attending monthly mtgs. impt.majority of people don't like regimentation of monthly mtgs., but they
are an input. means of communication.
mtgs. should be held 1 x monthly. She intends to compile thoughts discussed from the survey by the
members
present and send to Ron. Monday mtgs. are difficult for some to attend but was agreed by
everyone present that we should cont. with the 3rd Monday of the month. People
already are used to this mtg. time and can put it in their calendars. Summer mtgs. at the show grounds seem to work well and will continue
during the show season.
Gordan brought up scheduling a Farriers Clinic for gaited horses, and
combine the TWH and SSH clubs . This was well received by members present.
Mike will follow up and give dates/ times at next mtg. Farriers should
represent both lite shod and plantation. Mike will speak with Craig Swagerty about presenting a clinic for both clubs in the future, as
well.
Trail rides:
Rinda Black resigned as trail master.
Rita Miller has offered to help sponsor some rides.
May ride will be hosted by Leslie and Roy Topham over Memorial Day weekend.
There will be trail riding Sat., Sun., as well as Monday, if desired. RSVP
is impt. so Leslie will know how many to plan for. There will be dutch
oven
dinners Sat. and Sun. nights. Plan your own Bfkst. and lunches. Water
is avail. for horses. Horses should be shod. Dress for the elements.
June trail ride will be Sat. June 25th at Yellow Fork. Meet at start
of trail by 3p.m. RSVP to Mike Morgan.
Gordan Hershey offered to host the August ride. Date to be determined.
Historian position: Julie Christiansen will be doing photos and
historian updates in our SSHOW journal. If anyone has photos to add or update
call Julie.
Roy Topham was voted in to be the photographer for the yr. end high point
banquet presentation. this will require taking photos through-out the
yr. at shows and trail rides.
Placing results from the shows will be listed by Secty. of SSHOW
following each show.
Mtg. adjourned @ 12:45p.m.
Next mtg. to be held June 18th ( Sat.) 10:00 a.m. at north end of barn
700. Bring your own chair and drink. In case of inclement weather,
mtg will be moved to barn 700 INSIDE at north end.
