South Jordan Equestrian Center Meeting called to order @ 11:10 a.m.

Members present: Ron Kunz, Shelia Johnson, Wendy Morgan, Mike Morgan,

Leslie Topham, Erica Waters, Camille Waters, Nance Walker

Minutes of June meeting approved.

Review of previous show judging from Charity Show. Concerns were

voiced  that SSH rules for judging were not always followed, even though a copy

of the SSHBEA Rule Book was sent ahead of time , as per our decision to

see that each judge would have SSHBEA rules to review. Leslie brought out

that same judge was often fraternizing with exhibitors in barn areas while

the show was in progress! Shelia stated that Arabian Club rules are very

strict in this area (refer to NHSC Rule Book). Ron suggested that a letter

from the UABHA restating the rules on this matter to each judge prior to

the show might be in order. He further stated that the Ring Steward ( or

the Show Manager) should be notified on questions of infractions of the

rules.

No new member applications.

Treasurer not here to read Treas. report. $150.00 due to UABHA for the

SSH portion of affiliation to NHSC for the Howard Franklin Classic and Utah

State Fair Horse Shows. This information was given to Mike.

Mike Morgan brought up that the Mountain Gaited breed would like to

exhibit in our SSH designated classes at the UAB shows. It was discussed and

voted that our SSH breed should to continue to abide by the rules as now

stated in the UAB premium book . Ron stated, " We are not promoting pinto horses

with gaits, but the SSH as a BREED." As several members suggested, they

can still show their horses in the " open" gaited breed classes as well as

the Mtn. Gaited divisions at these shows.

Wendy Morgan and Shelia brought out complaints about no audible speaker

system at the Barn 900 area. As a result, the Morgans missed a class

they had entered. Also voiced were manure piles at the Barn 900 wash bays.

None of the barns seemed to have adequate garbage cans in them. Nance will

take these complaints to Art Lovato, manager, as well as the UABHA . Mike

will also bring this to the attention of the Equestrian Center Board.

Ron suggested we contact other organizations that use the Equest. Ctr.

to get a marquee out front to announce current events occurring in the Equestrian

Ctr. Complex.

Trail Rides: July 31st ( Sat.) meet at 10:00 a.m. at the trail head of

Settlement Canyon outside of Tooele. Call Keith Sizemore for details.

A policy of "NO DOGS on trail rides" was discussed and agreed upon for

the safety of the horses, dogs AND riders.

Nance offered to host a trail ride on the Saturday of Labor Day

week-end.

Details to be given out later. A possible trail ride in October to

Joseph to see the mountain goats will be looked into by Ron and discussed at

our next meeting.

Tom Pearce had one of his horses roll on him July 5th. Good Luck, Tom!

Our next meeting will be held on August 16th at the Christiansens'

home.

This is an annual summer event. Bring swimsuit, towel, main dish and a

side dish. Families are invited. They have a lovely pool, so plan to

attend!

Leslie brought up the Year End High Point Awards Banquet. It was

decided by the members present that October is a good time to hold this event. It

will be held at the Tophams' barn and will be on an " autumn barn party "

theme.

Leslie will check on the price of catering and a menu. Dates suggested

are Oct. 23rd, or 30th. Ron suggested we have each person pay a given

amount per plate. Leslie will give price/plate at next meeting.

Leslie and Becca will have date, time, and award catagories by next

meeting.
