Presidents report: Leslie discussed a clinic given by Jennie Jackson on
dressage & versatility, shared by the 2 clubs for expenses (MSTWHBEA/
SSHOW).  This was well received, and 10 horses and participants should be
available for this clinic to cover the expenses.  Nance offered for Ms.
Jackson to stay at their home, as she has done in the past.  Dates and time
to be given later.
A potential judge for our shows this year that is qualified to judge SSH,
TWH, ASB is Troy York and may be willing to judge our classes at the UABHA
for expenses ONLY!!  The update was given on the DQP issue of NHSC not
covering ANY of the expenses for providing the required DQP.  Discussion to
see if SSHBEA will consider continuing to Sanction our shows (3) if we get
an approved Veterinarian or Ferrier to act as DQP.  Mike will discuss with
Syd Baucum of the TWHBEA club to see about the feasibility of this for both
gaited clubs.  In the past NHSC has covered half of the expense to have a
DQP present.  This is no longer an option.
Gordon will take this up with the SSHBEA members when he attends the
national high point awards banquet later this month.  He already has
requested appointments with several national board members at that time.
He will then follow up with the SSHOW members at the Feb. meeting.

Horse Expo:  Nance brought up that there has not been word from her request
to SSHBEA  in the middle of December for their support (like in years past)
for our SSH booth in the Expo.  If SSHBEA does not cover the cost of the
booth ($250.00) would we want to take this out of our SSHOW budget?  Roy
suggested we cover the cost out of our local funds.  Leslie then suggested
if 10 families would donate $25.00 into our local funds, this would not be
so great a strain on our funds. This would be strictly on a volunteer basis.
Motion made by Nance to obtain $250.00 out of the SSHOW funds and get word
out to ALL membership to donate any monies back into the local fund to cover
this expense as listed above.  Roy second. Motion passed.

Treas. Report:  Mike...  A monthly financial statement was handed out to all
members present with the following information: Assets=$ 1,358.44
Memberships = Dean Thornton family membership ($20.00)
pre-sold videos from banquet = $40.00

Web Page status:  Wendy has spoken with Vicki May regarding the on-going
problems with the web page.(user unfriendly, not adequate updates, etc.)
Wendy has offered to work with Vicki during the coming weeks to see if she
can learn the tricks to manage this page.  She will report on this issue
next meeting.  If it is not completed and problems worked out by the time of
our next meeting, we will scrap that web page and start over.

Gordon sponsored ALL the SSH youth for the SSHBEA youth  council for the
2007 year and made out a check to SSHBEA.  This is a generous offer to get
our youth excited about the Sport Horse component of SSHBEA, and the awards
and opportunities SSHBEA offers to the youth of the national Youth Council.
Thank you, Gordon!!

Horse Expo:  Mike proposed Shelia manage the Expo this year for more
continuity.  Nance offered to assist.
Sign up sheets will be at the Feb. meeting for club volunteers for the 3 day
expo in March.

Sport Horse update:  Leslie took suggestions from the floor for classes to
present to the UAB for Sport Horse Division.  Classes suggested were: OPEN
TRAIL OBSTACLE;  RELAY RACE WITH 2 RIDERS;   BARREL RACE;   MUSICAL
"CHAIRS" on horses.  This will become an exciting feature of the SSH
Division for our club!!  It was suggested we present it to the UAB to hold
these events (classes) at the end of the afternoon session each day, or on
Saturday.

Meeting adjourned @ 8:53p.m.
Next meeting to be held Feb. 12, 2007 (Monday) at 7 p.m. at the Prudential
Building  ***PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A DEPARTURE FROM THE NORMAL MEETING DATE
!!**

Respectfully submitted,
Nance Walker, Secty. SSHOW
