Mike Morgan welcomed everyone.  He expressed appreciation for everyone on the January Awards Banquet, it went very well.

Nance Walker suggested that for next year's award banquet that we nominate horses for the awards and charge a fee to nominate a horse in order to pay for the awards rather than using the general fund as was done last year.  After a discussion a motion was made by Becca Pennington that a policy be set that points will accumulate only after a horse is nominated and the nomination fees  are paid.   The fees will be $10.00 for the first horse and $5.00 for every additional horse nomination.  Tom Pearce seconded the motion and it was approved by the club.

Wendy Morgan suggested that we have a silent auction at our next banquet.  Everyone was enthusiastic about the idea.

Nance reported on Utah's National SSHEBA affiliation by stating that most club's elect new officers at the end of December and forward their new list of officers for the SSHEBA Magazine.  We elect our officers in April and we were not aware of the deadline to get the club's listing into the magazine so our club was not listed in the first issue this year.  Nance will send our current info and an article about our awards banquet to be included in the next SSHEBA issue.

Nancy also reported that the National FOSH show will be in Winnemucca, Nevada this year.  She said it is a good show and a premium book is being forwarded to us if anyone is interested.

Spring Fling - by Tuesday, March 2nd, all changes must be made to the premium book for the Spring Fling Show.  Nance wanted input to take with her to the meeting.   It was decided to split the English and Western amateur and two gaited classes into separate classes.  The three gaited classes will stay combined English/Western.  There will be no points for the Trail Pleasure Class.  Also we wanted it made clear how the judge will call the changes of the gaits - show gait, show walk, preferred gait?

One correction to the January's Meeting Minutes regarding Dennis and Becca's win - the correction should be -  Dennis and Becca Pennington and their stallion “Compact Impact” were awarded the TWH Lite-Shod English 2 Gait High Point Championship Cup, and the TWH Western Lite-Shod 2-3 Gait Reserve Championship Ribbon.   Janae motion to approve the minutes with the above correction, the motion was seconded and approved.

Becca said her husband, Dennis is looking into getting us a 10% discount to SaddleUp.

It was decided that we will advertise used clothing and tack in our newsletter and on our web site.  Some web sites to visit to look for used clothing or tack are:

DreamHorse.com                 Walking-horse.com              Cheaptack.com

It is possible that we can link with these web sites with our own used clothing and tack.

Treasurer's Report - $768.00

New member - Kathy Dennis has applied for and was approved for membership in SSHOW.    Welcome Kathy Denos!

Tom brought up a discussion on the West Nile Virus and breeding mares.  He believes he has eight mares who aborted or lost their foals.  He is wondering if anyone else has had similar issues.

Leslie Topham from the Tennessee Walking Club is trying to arrange a client for our combined clubs.  It will be a training clinic, hopefully in the first of May.  It will be a two day clinic.   Wendy Shaw from California is one of the names mentioned who would give the clinic.  This is a great opportunity.  More on it later.

Meeting adjorned at 8:30 pm.
